Do you have what it takes to survive being homeless ?

Street Smart is a survival game of a different sort. The goal is to try to put the player in the position of a person experiencing homelessness and to hopefully create some empathy by spending time “in their shoes”.
Find food, keep warm, try to stay sane and try to improve your appearance to try to stay alive while negotiating uncaring bureaucracies. vicious gangs, and the streets themselves. Homelessness is a fulltime job, and you have to be smart and tough to beat it. Could you?

Backstory; Derek was a fighter. Sure, he had lost his parents too early. He still had those bad dreams from when he served in Afghanistan. But he had married the woman of his dreams – his childhood sweetheart – and was building the business that he inherited from his father into something that his future children could be proud of. But then the pressure started. He had invested everything he had into his business. There was nothing left for extras. They even had to cut back on food and cancel their health insurance policy. Who needed it? They were young and healthy and hadn’t been to see a doctors in years. But then Susan found a lump in her breast… It was a slow and excrutiating decline. When she died, Derek had spent everything to try to save her. The pressure and pain of his loss made his PTSD worse and he began to have hallucinations. The medication helped, but it was expensive. Alcohol was cheaper and dulled the pain. When he finally got evicted, he realized that he had no one left in his life to help him. During his very first day on the streets, he got robbed, Now he did’t even have an ID anymore. What should he do now?
